Mental Health
Mental Health is one of the major public health challenges in Scotland. Around one in four people are estimated to be affected by mental ill-health in any one year.
Scotland’s mental health research community is active in leading research in areas such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, autism, depression, addictions and psychosis.
The NRS Mental Health Network provides support to improve the quality and quantity of research and promote excellence in mental health clinical research in Scotland. Our scope includes commercial and academic studies across a wide range of areas including imaging, psychosocial, genetic, multi-centre clinical trials, and e-health research.
The network is managed by a coordinating centre in Edinburgh led by Professor Andrew Gumley with a Scotland-wide Management Group representing Regional Leads in the 4 NRS Nodes, and work alongside regionally-based Research Assistants and Research Nurses covering all health boards in Scotland.
