REC Membership of Scotland A Committee: Resilience

REC Membership of Scotland A Committee: Resilience

18th March 2020

The Chief Scientist Office is extremely grateful to all expressions of interest recieved to join the Scotland A Research Ethics Committee. We are now in a position to fill the vacancies and create a reserve list - all candidates will be contacted over the coming days.

Thank you for your support. This will significantly improve the resilience of the Scotland A Committee.

Due to the current Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation it is likely an increased number of studies may need an ethical opinion from the Scotland A REC – for which the Chief Scientist Office would authorise a fast track process.

With an increased workload and where current members of Scotland A REC may be called away to clinical duties, we urgently need to improve the resilience of the committee.

We therefore invite colleagues on Scottish RECs to consider membership of Scotland A REC committee.

In addition any clinician working in NHS Scotland who might be interested in joining the committee is encouraged to get in touch.

If possible, as well as filling all current vacancies we also wish to establish a reserve list of individuals willing to be appointed if required. Appointments are for the duration of the COVID-19 epidemic or longer depending on individual preferences.

This opportunity is open to all areas of Scotland - all meetings are being conducted remotely.

If you are interested please email Gordon Watt - Gordon.watt@gov.scot.

If you are a current REC member please copy in your REC manager and Scientific Officer for information.
