Vacancy: Chief Scientist - Health

Applications are now invited for the post of Chief Scientist, Health. This is a key Senior Civil Service role in the Scottish Government and provides a unique opportunity to have a direct influence on strategic policy outcomes affecting the future of Scotland.
It is one of three Chief Scientific posts in the Scottish Government. The purpose of the role is to identify, promote and encourage research which addresses the health and healthcare needs of the people of Scotland. The Chief Scientist plays a key role in formulating and implementing the Research Strategy for the NHS in Scotland and is responsible for one of the larger research budgets within the Scottish Government.
This Senior Civil Service role is advertised as 2 days per week part-time secondment, based in Edinburgh. The appointment will be for 3 years in the first instance, with the possibility of extension.
