Glasgow Clinical Research Facility Course Listing

The Glasgow Clinical Research Facility (GCRF) Education Programme provides an extensive programme of education tailored to meet the needs of the clinical research community.

The aim of the education programme is to increase and promote research capacity and capability through a multi-professional programme.

By working closely with our partners in the NHS, academic institutions, other CRF’s, the UKCRF network and the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR), the Education Team ensures a cohesive standardised programme that meets the requirements of local and national research communities.

Good Clinical Practice Courses

NHS Research Scotland (NRS) Introduction to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) is for those new to research working on clinical trials of investigational medicinal products, or those who have completed training more than 2 years ago.

NRS GCP Update ensures GCP is updated every 2 years as is mandatory, and can be attended by those who have previously complete the introduction to GCP within 2 years.

Good Research Practice (Non-drug Trials) is an introduction to legislation surrounding health and social care research -suitable for those conducting research not involving drugs. There is no requirement to repeat this if it has already been completed.

Principal Investigator Development

Principal Investigator (PI) Roles and Responsibilities Workshop is relevant to those who are new to research and for those who would like to improve their understanding of PI responsibilities.

NIHR Associate PI scheme is supported by NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, and is available to all in relevant roles working across a range of settings, including primary, secondary, community and social care.

'Bite-sized Training' is a series of six 1-hour virtual courses taught monthly to give practical support to those starting out in research. Designed to complement the NIHR Associate PI Scheme, it is also useful to those new to research:
